I’ve recently finished a PhD in history of science studying the practice of statistical forecasting of storm surges in Britain 1919-1959. I am interested in how systems change or not over time. For example I am developing an idea for a research project to analyse the changing government policy regarding coastal flood defences in post-war Britain from a policy focused on hard defences in the 1950s towards the ‘managed retreat’ policy of today.
