We are happy to announce the release of the STRN Newsletter 56. This edition opens with an editorial by Nuno Bento (DINÂMIA’CET, ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon), offering reflections on last month’s IST’25 in Lisbon. The conference, hosted for the first time in Southern Europe, brought together over 550 participants from more than 50 countries and featured a program exploring tensions and conflicts in structural change for sustainability transitions.
This issue also highlights the outcome of the recent STRN Steering Group elections, welcoming new members Darren Sharp (Monash University), Leonard Frank (University of Freiburg), and the joint NEST representatives Maria Altunay and Maja Svanberg (Chalmers University of Technology), as well as the re-election of Merin Raju Jacob and Ingrid Johansson Mignon. We thank everyone who put themselves forward for their commitment to the community.
Opportunities for early-career researchers are featured with upcoming methods and PhD schools in Vienna, Melbourne, and Linköping. The newsletter further includes reports from our STRN thematic groups, covering recent activities and upcoming events.
This issue also covers changes at EIST: Teis Hansen takes over as Editor-in-Chief, and we extend our sincere thanks to Bernhard Truffer for his many years of commitment and leadership.
Finally, the newsletter presents updates on new projects and a round-up of the latest academic publications!
On behalf of the STRN community, we wish all readers a restful summer!
