| Short Bio | Luca Bertolini is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Amsterdam. His research and teaching focus on the transition to sustainable urban mobility. He has published more than 50 international scientific journal articles books and book chapters including the two books Transit Oriented Development. Making it Happen and Cities on Rails and three articles nominated for best European planning article of the year. In addition he has published more than 50 national scientific and professional papers. His research has often led to practice applications as with the numerous Dutch applications of the ‘node-place model’ a method for assessing the development potential of station areas. He has led several international and national research programs and projects often in consortia with practice. He is currently leading the NICIS funded national programs KEI (‘Development of station areas in a corridor context: economic significance and institutional incentives’) and OBBRI (‘Design and assessment of regional spatial and infrastructure visions’); the European Concerted Research Action ‘Accessibility Instruments For Planning Practice In Europe’; and individual projects in the NWO-SAR funded programs SRMT (‘Strategy towards Sustainable and Reliable Multi-modal Transport in the Randstad’) and CESAR (‘Climate and Environmental change and Sustainable Accessibility of the Randstad’). He is actively involved in a variety of international and national research and policy networks expert committees and advisory bodies recently including the Expertteam Spoorzones (Dutch national expert team for the redevelopment of railway areas). He co-chairs the ‘Transport Planning and Policy’ thematic group of AESOP (the Association of European Schools of Planning) and is fellow of the Kennis Instituut Mobiliteit (KiM Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis). |
