We are pleased to announce the release of the STRN Newsletter 58. This edition opens with an editorial by Daniel Rosenbloom, Bruno Turnheim, Bipashyee Ghosh, and Florian Kern reflecting on the growing importance of strengthening the policy impact of sustainability transitions research in a context of intensifying sustainability challenges and shifting geopolitical priorities. The editorial introduces the work of the STRN Working Group on Advancing Policy Impact and highlights ongoing efforts to better understand and support science–policy engagement across the network.
This issue also features several announcements and updates from across the STRN community: These include the call to host IST2028, updates from multiple thematic groups, and information on upcoming events such as the GeoST webinar series on the global dimension of sustainability transitions and the fourth workshop of the Multi-System Dynamics Thematic Group, taking place in April 2026 at the University of Tartu.
The newsletter further highlights new initiatives and opportunities across the field, including a special issue call at Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions on the internal dynamics of firms in sustainability transitions, new research projects, and upcoming conferences and calls for abstracts. Readers will also find announcements from the NEST community, including an upcoming webinar by Giuseppe Feola on post-growth food systems.
Finally, this edition provides an overview of recent publications, doctoral theses, and books across the sustainability transitions field, including the newly released open-access Introduction to Sustainability Transitions Research handbook.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this edition.
