We are pleased to announce the release of STRN Newsletter 57. This edition opens with an editorial by Teis Hansen (University of Copenhagen), the new Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, who reflects on how shifting geopolitical priorities and changing research agendas are reshaping the conditions for sustainability transitions scholarship.
This issue also introduces several new members of the STRN Steering Group, including Darren Sharp (Monash University), Leonard Frank (University of Freiburg), and the NEST representatives Maria Altunay and Maja Svanberg (Chalmers University of Technology), who outline their research interests and planned contributions to the community. Readers will find updates on IST26, where more than 50 paper-track and special-session proposals have been submitted, as well as information about the upcoming call for abstracts. The newsletter further reports on recent activities across our thematic groups, including Ju-ST, AFTG, GeoST, and the Digitalization TG, alongside announcements of upcoming events such as the 2026 NEST Conference at IIT Delhi.
This edition also highlights new projects and provides a comprehensive overview of recent publications and doctoral theses across the field.
Thank you to everyone who contributed!
