Methods School 2026

STRN regularly organizes Methods schools designed for PhDs and other early career researchers. The Methods school focuses not just on how to conduct research using different methods, but also the ontological foundations of methodologies.

The next STRN Methods School will be hosted by the Department of Sociology & Lund Social Science Methods Centre, Lund University

 

Dates: November 23rd-26th, 2026
Application opens: Monday, August 3rd, 2026
Deadline to apply: Friday, September 11th, 2026
Notification of acceptance: Friday, September 18th, 2026
Cost: The Methods School is free of charge, including lunch and coffee. Participants are responsible for arranging travel and stay. There is a small travel bursary available (see below).
Lead organizer: The Methods School is led by Dr. Lea Fünfschilling

Who should participate?

  • PhD students ideally in 2nd or 3rd year
  • Knowledge requirements: basic understanding of Socio-technical Transitions
  • Research Interest in analysing Socio-technical Transition, Transition Pathways development, Transformative (Innovation) Policy, Decline, Disruption and Destabilization
