| Short Bio | I am an eco-innovation and sustainability transition expert who helped to create the field of sustainability transition studies. I wrote seminal articles and two books on technological regime shifts, strategic niche management, transition management and reflexive governance for sustainable development. I am doing this as professor of innovation and sustainable development at the Maastricht Sustainability Institute and UNU-MERIT in Maastricht (The Netherlands). At the School of Business and Economics (in Maastricht), I co-lead the MORSE initiative about problem-based research, which motivates and inspires researchers to work across disciplines and fields on complex, real-world questions, together with stakeholders on the topics of resilience, responsibility and sustainability. As an innovation scholar with a PhD in environmental economics, I am interested in the interaction between economy and society, niches and regimes and landscape developments such as marketization, post-material values and changing aspirations of people. I am a multidisciplinary researcher who has published in eco-innovation and sustainability transitions in innovation journals, environmental and ecological economics journals, policy journals, transport journals, and sustainable development journals. I am a critical pluralist. |
